Windows

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit

Download installer
  • Installs per user under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Muster; no administrator prompt.
  • Updates itself: the app polls a signed release manifest and offers new versions in place.
  • The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen says "unknown publisher" the first time. Choose More info → Run anyway. Every release artifact is signed with Muster's own updater key; the public half is in the repository.

Linux

AppImage, or build from source

Download AppImage
  • x86-64. Make it executable and run it; GTK and WebKitGTK are bundled, so nothing else to install.
  • Built on Ubuntu 22.04, so it runs on anything with glibc 2.35 or newer (Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12, Fedora 36 and later).
  • Updates itself: the app checks the signed release manifest and offers a restart when a new version is verified. It replaces the AppImage file in place, so keep it somewhere you can write to.

Build from source

Requires Go 1.25+, Node 22+, and the webkit2gtk-4.1 and gtk3 development packages. The result links the system WebKit instead of bundling it.

macOS

No packaged build yet

The code builds and runs on macOS, but there is no signed app bundle to download yet. Until there is, build from source (Go 1.25+ and Node 22+; no extra system packages):

What Muster needs from the games

RimWorld

RimWorld installed through Steam. Profiles launch with steam -applaunch 294100 -savedatafolder=…, so Steam must be running. Library folders are detected; you can override paths in Settings.

Minecraft

The official Minecraft launcher, installed and run once so it has set itself up. Muster adds each pack to it as a profile and installs the loader alongside. Java is only needed for Forge and NeoForge packs, and Muster finds the launcher's own runtime.
